The Musikcorps was founded in 1953 by members of the volunteer fire fighter brigade from the city of Grossen Linden. After some local recognition the band decided in 1962 for the first time to participate in the World Music Concours in Kerkrade/ Netherlands. After winning a Gold medal the brass band was encouraged to further enhance its musical standards and was a steady participant in 1966 and 1970. When the Musikcorps received the invitation to join in the Steuben Parade in New York 1971, it was officially representing Germany.

1974 can be considered a year of superlatives for the brass band. The band was able to become world champion in both the marching and the show contest of the World Music Concours in Kerkrade. Grossen Linden achieved two gold medals with the highest ranking among all bands. Meanwhile the fire fighter brass band won more than 150 national and international prizes. It was this success which caused the band a flood of invitations from domestic and abroad. - Music shows in Soenderborg/Denmark
- Aix les Bains and Chateau Thierry, France
- Street parades at Bi-Centenials in Philadelphia, USA 1976
- World Exposition in Vancouver, Canada 1986
- Festival of States, Florida, USA 1982 and 1992
- Concert tour through the South of the US

Besides all of this travelling and being the "ambassadors in music" for their home town and country, in 1987 the Musikcorps startet a series of "New Years Concert" in Grossen Linden on a regular - two year - basis. Along with that every 4 years an International Music Show takes place in the musicians home town.

Orchestral music, movie and military music are forming the program of the Musikcorps. At the same time Rock, Pop and Latin American Rhythms can be found in their repertoire. Most of all, once and again, the Musikcorps of Grossen Linden is a march and show brass band which transforms music into movement and choreography on streets and in stadions.

The band consists of 50 amateur musicians who come togehter twice a week in the bands own facilities. Improving their skills is a must but fun plays an important role in everything the members do. Our Audience gives us the power to move on - come hear and see us !
